How to Buy Paper
When deciding on what type of paper to use for a particular printed piece the following characteristics must be decided:
Paper Type - Paper is available in text, cover and writing (see paper terms for complete description). Type of paper selected is determined by the end use of the printed piece.
Color - Paper is normally available in a wide variety of colors. Your printer or paper merchant can supply the swatch books of different colors. The Glodan web site will provide you with the colors available in a particular grade of paper.
Finish - Paper is also available in a variety of finishes. These finishes can be examined in a paper swatch, which is available from your printer or paper merchant. The Glodan web site will provide you with the finishes available in a particular grade of paper.
Basis Weight - Paper comes in several different basis weights (see definition of basis weight under paper terms). The basis weight is usually determined by the end use of the printed piece. The Glodan web site will provide you with the basis weights available in a particular grade of paper.
Size - Since many sizes are available in paper your printer should be consulted on what paper size they can print best. The Glodan web site will provide you with all the sizes available in a particular grade of paper.
